#AEBASE Week 11: Bryant Moves Into First

BOSTON – Bryant earned a sweep over UAlbany to move into first place with three weekends remaining in the regular season, while Maine captured 2 of 3 to stay close behind in second.
 
Bryant won all four of its games last week and has won11 of 12 overall to jump back into first place with a 10-5 record. The Bulldogs won 7-4, 5-3 and 17-4 all on the road. Maine is just a game back in the loss column and is 12-6 overall after beating NJIT 1-0 and 7-5. UMass Lowell also had a strong weekend, taking two from Binghamton, 5-4 and 5-2.
 
All seven teams are in action midweek. This weekend Bryant hosts Maine in a battle for first place, while UAlbany travels to UMass Lowell. UMBC welcomes NJIT for three contests beginning on Friday afternoon.

#AEBASE Weekly Award Winners – April 29

Player of the Week
Zac Zyons, Bryant – Sr., Second Base, South Kingstown, R.I.
  • Hit .375 and had an OPS of 1.507 in leading Bryant to a 4-0 record.
  • Finished off the weekend sweep of UAlbany by going 3-for-3 with five RBI and two home runs.
  • Zyons is the third different player from Bryant to earn #AEBASE Player of the Week honors.
 
Pitcher  of the Week
Caleb Leys, Maine – Jr., Pitcher, Middletown, R.I.
  • Went the full 7.0 innings for a complete game five-hit shutout with two walks and five strikeouts.
  • Currently leads all pitchers in league play in wins (5), ERA (0.51) and strikeouts (45)
  • This is Ley’s third #AEBASE Pitcher of the Week honor this season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Tommy Martin, Maine – Fr., Pitcher, Randolph, N.J.
  • Earned his first career save with 3.0 innings of scoreless relief against NJIT.
  • Allowed a single hit with two walks and one strikeout for the Black Bears.
  • This is Martin’s first career #AEBASE Rookie of the Week honor.
