#AEMLAX Week 12: Bryant & UMBC Share Regular Season Title

BOSTON – The #AEMLAX regular season came to a close over the weekend as Bryant and UMBC each earned a share of the regular-season championship. The Bulldogs secured their fifth win of conference play with a 17-12 victory over UMass Lowell. Bryant set the tone early, with 11 goals in the first half, while UMBC was on a bye.
 
Binghamton took down Vermont 12-7 to secure the fourth and final spot in the #AEMLAX Championship. The Bearcats held Vermont to three goals in the second half while Connor Winters, of Binghamton, racked up a school-record 22 saves in the win. UAlbany took down NJIT 18-6 on Saturday, securing the third seed in the upcoming Championship tournament. With the win, the Great Danes finished conference play 4-2.

The tournament kicks off on Thursday with semifinal action. Host Bryant takes on Binghamton in the first matchup at 4 p.m. while UMBC and UAlbany face off in the nightcap at 7 p.m. Both contests will be on ESPN+, with the championship set for Saturday at 1 pm.
 

Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of the #AEMLAX this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Offensive Player of the Week

Brian Russell, Bryant – Sr., Attack, Malverne, N.Y.
  • Tallied six points (four goals and two assists) in key win over UMass Lowell to earn the top spot in the conference tournament.
  • This is Russell’s first #AEMLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor this season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jacob Smith, UAlbany – So., Midfield, Milford, OH
  • Had four ground balls, one caused turnover, and helped hold NJIT to just six goals in a win.
  • This is Quill’s first #AEMLAX Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Connor Winters, Binghamton – Sr., Goalkeeper, Webster, N.Y.
  • Made program-record 22 saves to secure the final playoff spot.
  • Had a .759 save percentage in 12-7 win over Vermont.
  • This is Winters’s second #AEMLAX Goalkeeper of the Week honor this season.
 
Faceoff Specialist of the Week
Henry Dodge, Vermont – Jr., Faceoff Specialist, Westport, CT.
  • Went 20-for-22 from the X with 13 ground balls.
  • Dodge leads the nation in faceoff win pecentage (71.3%) and ranks fourth in ground balls per game (8.5)
  • This is Dodge’s sixth #AEMLAX Faceoff Specialist honor of the season.
 
Rookie of the Week
JC Echezuria, NJIT – Fr., Attack, Levittown, N.Y.
  • Scored a career-best four goals against UAlbany.
  • This Echezuria’s second career #AEMLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
