#AETF Week 5: National Marks Highlight Impressive Weekend

Boston – All nine #AETF schools were in action last week in a variety of meets up and down the East coast, producing some impressive results.

Action started last week on Thursday as a few runners from Vermont and Bryant took part in the Virginia Challenge and Bryan Clay Invite respectively. Teams were spread out the rest of the weekend, highlighted by UMass Lowell hosting the annual George Davis Invitational.


Less than two weeks remain until the conference championship takes place at the University of New Hampshire. This week, select athletes will compete at the Penn Relays, while others will travel to UMass for a Pre-Conference meet.

#AETF  Weekly Award Winners – April 22

Female Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week

Sarah Moore, New Hampshire – Fr., Lisbon, Maine
  • Moore recorded a wind-aided leap of 6.30m to win the long jump at the George Davis Invitational.
  • Although her jump of 6.30m was not wind-legal, she also leaped 6.29m on her third attempt to claim the Wildcats’ school record.
  • Moore’s 6.30m performance ranks 32nd in the NCAA this season.
 
Female Track Athlete of the Week
Toni Galloway, UAlbany – Jr., Jamaica, N.Y.
  • Galloway ran an all-conditions program-best 13.17 in the 100m hurdles.
  • Her time ranks 22nd in the NCAA this year.
Male Field Athlete of the Week
James Kotowski, UMass Lowell – Gr., Stoneham, Mass.
  • Kotowski threw a season-best 74.09m in the javelin to capture the victory at the George Davis Invitational.
  • His mark ranks 10th in the NCAA this season
 
Male Track Athlete of the Week
Marcus Johnson, Binghamton – Gr., Palatine Bridge, N.Y.
  • Johnson finished second in the 400m hurdles at the Georgia Tech Invitational, running 51.09.
  • His time of 51.09 would rank 43rd in the NCAA this year, but his season-best of 50.98 is currently ranked 38th.
 
Male Rookie of the Week
Tooni Ogunyeye, UAlbany – Fr., Brampton, Ontario, Canada
  • Ogunyeye stood on top of the podium twice, recording a wind-aided 10.27 in the 100m and running a leg on the Great Danes’ meet record-breaking 39.73 4x100m relay.
  • His 100m time ranks 36th in the East Region, while the Great Danes’ 4x100m relay ranks 36th in the East Region as well.
