Baseball 4/22/2025 11:00:00 AM #AEBASE Week 10: Maine Blasts Into First BOSTON – Maine continued its ascent to the top of the standings by scoring 44 runs and taking two of three from UMBC this weekend. Binghamton earned a sweep over NJIT to get back over .500 in league play, while Bryant won twice against UMass Lowell. The Black Bears fell 16-12 to UMBC in the opening contest, but rebounded with wins of 9-1 and 23-1 to close out the weekend. Binghamton earned a tight sweep over NJIT, 7-6, 13-6 and 8-7. The losses dropped NJIT out of first and lifted Maine into the second spot. In the final conference series, Bryant won 15-1 and 14-10 in the first two games of its series against UMass Lowell before falling 4-3 in the final. Five teams have midweek games this week. This weekend Maine hosts NJIT in a battle for first place, while Bryant looks to continue its ascent up the standings at UAlbany. Hit .556 and slugged .889 with 14 RBI, three doubles and one home run in a 3-1 week. Went 4-for-5 with seven RBI and two runs in a 16-12 loss to UMBC Finished 3-for-3 with four runs and two RBI in a 12-1 victory at UAlbany. This is Sargent’s second career #AEBASE Player of the Week honor. Pitcher of the Week Caleb Leys, Maine – Jr., Pitcher, Middletown, R.I. Went 7.0 innings and allowed just five hits with one earned run while striking out nine batters against UMBC. Earned his league-leading fourth conference win and has a league-high 40 strikeouts. This is Ley’s second #AEBASE Pitcher of the Week honor this season. Rookie of the Week Michael Belcher, Bryant– Fr., Pitcher, Prospect, Conn. Gave up just three hits with three walks, one earned run and had two strikeouts in 7.0 IP win against UMass Lowell.
