#AEMLAX Week 6: Binghamton, Bryant, UMBC Win League Openers

BOSTON – Conference play kicked off last weekend as six #AEMLAX kicked off their six-game league slate. Binghamton, Bryant and UMBC came away with victories to get off to 1-0 starts.
 
In the game of the day on Saturday, Bryant scored the final five goals of the contest to beat UAlbany, 12-11. Jake Lonsinger scored three times including twice in the span of six seconds in the fourth quarter to give the Bulldogs the lead for good as they held UAlbany scoreless for the final 16:10 of the game. Elsewhere, UMBC used a strong defensive effort and led from start to finish in a 10-7 win over Vermont on Saturday while Gage Adams tallied six points to lead Binghamton to a 14-12 victory over UMass Lowell on Friday.

This week, UAlbany visits national powerhouse Virgina and UMass Lowell faces rival and 16th-ranked UMass on Tuesday. On Saturday, conference play continues with a three-game slate as Binghamton hosts NJIT, Bryant visits Vermont and UAlbany welcomes UMBC.

Offensive Player of the Week

Gage Adams, Binghamton – Sr., Attack, Kirkland, Wash.
  • Tallied six points in Binghamton’s win over UMass Lowell on Friday.
  • Had three goals and three assists.
  • This is Adams’ first #AEMLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor this season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Dante Marinello, UMBC -   Jr., Defender, Watchung, N.J.
  • Had a league-high five caused turnovers and three ground balls to help lead UMBC to a 10-7 win over Vermont on Saturday.
  • Helped hold Vermont to just seven goals.
  • This is Marinello’s first  #AEMLAX Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Connor McMahon, UMBC – Jr., Goalkeeper, Stevensville, Md.  
  • Had a .563 save percentage in UMBC’s 10-7 win over Vermont on Saturday.
  • Made nine saves and picked up a ground ball.
  • This is McMahon’s second #AEMLAX Goalkeeper of the Week honor this season.
 
Faceoff Specialist of the Week
JJ Murphy, Bryant – So., Faceoff Specialist, Windham, N.H.
  • Went 22-for-25 (.880) from the faceoff X with 15 ground balls in Bryant’s thrilling 12-11 win over UAlbany.
  • Also assisted on the game-winning goal.
  • This is Murphy’s first #AEMLAX Faceoff Specialist honor of the season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Zac Amend, Bryant - Fr., Attack, Rye, N.H.
  • Tallied three goals and one assist in Bryant’s win over UAlbany.
  • This is Amend’s first career #AEMLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
