Men's #AEHoops Feb. 6 Recap

BOSTON – The men’s #AEHoops standings were shaken up Thursday night as teams had key wins. UAlbany, Binghamton, Maine and New Hampshire all picked up big wins. UAlbany broke Bryant’s perfect record with a 68-63 win, while Maine moved into second place with a win over NJIT. New Hampshire won against UMBC while Binghamton outlasted UMass Lowell.

at Maine 78, NJIT 74  – Box Score
UMass Lowell jumped out to an early lead in the first half and maintained momentum throughout the contest. Shooting 48 percent from the field, Maine was led by Kellen Tynes, who broke the program record for most steals in a career as he registered his 244th steal in the first half of the game.  NJIT had five scorers in double-digits, but it was not enough to overcome the Black Bears. Maine has now won seven conference games.

UAlbany 68, at Bryant 63 – Box Score
UAlbany took down the former undefeated and top seeded Bryant Bulldogs on Thursday. The Great Danes led 41-28 at the half and remained in control of the game into the second. Bryant was outrebounded 43-39 during the game while the Great Danes recorded eight steals. Led by Byron Joshua’s 22 points, three steals, and two rebounds, the Great Danes shot 41 percent from the field in the victory.
 
at Binghamton 66, UMass Lowell 54 – Box Score
Binghamton held the River Hawks to a season-low point total on 30 percent shooting and held them to 27 points under its season average. Gavin Walsh, of Binghamton, broke his own school rebounding record with 23 boards. The Bearcats have won three in a row and will host top seed Bryant on Saturday.

at New Hampshire 79, UMBC 78– Box Score
New Hampshire powered their way back from down double digits in the second half to beat UMBC in the final seconds of the game. UMBC started the second half on a 15-5 run before New Hampshire was able to get within five with under two minutes to play. A game winning three from Anthony McComb III would power the Wildcats over UMBC. Sami Pissis of New Hampshire led with 27 points while Marcus Banks of UMBC tallied 30 points.
