#AESD Week 13: Two Programs Earn Weekly Awards

 BOSTON – It was a light weekend across the conference as only UMBC and NJIT took to the pool.

The 2025 conference championship is about three weeks away and is set to begin on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
 
2024-25 #AESD Weekly Award Winners – Jan. 28
Female Swimmer of the Week
Bruna de Padua, UMBC– Jr
  • De Padua Touched the wall first in the 200 Free ( 1:52.47) at the Tiger Winter Open

Female Diver of the Week
Ember Stennett, UMBC– Jr., Lake Barrington, Ill.
  •  Stennett led the UMBC women divers with a second place finish in the 3 meter (266.25) and also took fourth in the 1 meter (231.90)
 
Female Rookie of the Week
Breanna Smith, UMBC – Fr.,  Cary, NC
  • Smith cruised to a victory in the 400 IM (4:35.15) at the Tiger Winter Open

Male Swimmer of the Week
Tanish Chhabra, NJIT– Sr.,Dubai, United Arab Emirates
  • Chhabra recorded three first place finishes in NJIT;s win over Monmouth
  • He touched the wall first in both the 50 free (20.95) and 100 free (46.67), and was part of the winning 400 Medley relay team that clocked at time of 3:25.78

Male Diver of the Week
Aiden Ban, NJIT– Grad., Ridgewood, NJ
  • Ban swept the diving events for the fourth time in 2024-25 with season-best scores against Monmouth, recording a 1-meter dive score of 306.83 and a 3-meter dive score of 353.63.
  • His 1-meter dive score ranks third in the America East and his 3-meter dive score ranks first in the conference.
 
Male Rookie of the Week
Christian Castro, UMBC– Fr., Sherman Oaks, CA
  • Castro touch the wall first in the 1650 improving his seed time by over 16 seconds to finish in 16:26.39
