BOSTON – The women’s basketball regular season wraps up on Saturday, but Thursday brought plenty of action. The Great Danes clinched the Regular Season Championship with a win over UMBC, Vermont and Maine secured wins to remain in second and third in the standings, and Bryant took down UMass Lowell.
at Vermont 75, NJIT 43 – Box Score
An explosive first quarter paved the way for the Catamounts as they dominated in a win over NJIT Thursday night. Vermont shot 55% from the field and had 10 players contribute to the box score in the win. NJIT was led by freshman standout, Olivia Kulyk, who chipped in nine points and two rebounds. Bella Vito had 14 points and four assists for Vermont in the contest.
at Bryant 64, UMass Lowell 52 – Box Score
It was a hard fought game for both teams as the Bulldogs were able to pull away with a victory. With 22 bench points, Bryant was able to have all players contribute in the match-up. Nia Scott paved the way for Bryant with 15 points and 14 rebounds while Mimi Rubino chipped in 13 points and three boards. Abbey Lindsey, of UMass Lowell, led all scorers with 18 points and four rebounds.
at Maine 62, New Hampshire 48 – Box Score
The Black Bears started out strong in the first half but New Hampshire didn’t go down without a fight. A strong third quarter by the Wildcats brought it to within five but Maine was able to pull away in the fourth. Maine has won back-to-back games and looks to finish the regular season strong against Bryant on Saturday. The Black Bears were led by Asta Blauenfeldt, who had 18 points and Caroline Bornemann who chipped in 10 points, 10 boards, and six assists. Eva DeChent, of New Hampshire, led all scorers with 24 points, nine rebounds, and four steals.
at UAlbany 68, UMBC 60 – Box Score
A strong second half secured the Great Danes the Regular Season Championship title. For the first time since 2016, UAlbany has clinched the top overall seed in the #AEPlayoffs. It is the second time in the last three years the Great Danes have earned at least a share of the Regular Season Title. UAlbany was led by Kayla Cooper who had 19 points, four assists, and three steals. For UMBC, Jaden Walker contributed 17 points and nine rebounds.
