#AEMLAX Week 3: Five Teams Claim Victory

BOSTON – America East men’s lacrosse teams went 5-3 last week as five different programs came away with victories.
 
UAlbany dropped a tough contest at No. 17 Penn, but rebounded with an impressive 16-9 win over Drexel. Vermont, meanwhile, edged Utah 11-10 and Bryant downed Quinnipiac on the road. UMBC and UMass Lowell also earned wins last week.

Seven more #AEMLAX contests take place this week, including Vermont at Dartmouth and unbeaten UMBC hosting Towson. UAlbany welcomes UMass on Saturday while Bryant and Binghamton are at Ohio State and Hoftra. 
 
The preseason poll was announced on January 14.

#AEMLAX Weekly Award Winners – Feb. 24
Offensive Player of the Week
Silas Richmond, UAlbany – Jr., Attack, Delta, B.C.
  • Tallied seven goals and two assists in a 1-1 week.
  • Had three points in a loss to No. 17 Penn and then five goals and one assist against Drexel.
  • This is Richmond’s first career #AEMLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jack Combs – So., LSM, Indialantic, Fla.
  • Had four ground balls and two caused turnovers in a 11-10 win over Utah.
  • Picked up four of those ground balls and both CTs in a win over Mercyhurst.
  • This is Combs third career #AEMLAX Defensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Connor McMahon, UMBC – Jr., Goalkeeper, Stevensville, Md.
  • Allowed just six goals with ten saves in a 12-6 win over Mount St. Mary’s.
  • Added four ground balls in the win.
  • Helped UMBC rank 2nd nationally in scoring defense (6.0 gpg) after the weekend.
  • This is McMahon’s first career #AEMLAX Goalkeeper of the Week honor.
 
Faceoff Specialist of the Week
Henry Dodge, Vermont - Jr., Face Off, Westport, Conn.
  • Went 19-for-24 in face-offs with 15 ground balls, one goal and one assist in 11-10 win over Utah.
  • Dodge leads the nation in face-off winning percentage at 76.7% and ground ball per game (10.3).
  • This is Dodge's third straight #AEMLAX Faceoff Specialist honor of the season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Matthew Drimmie, Vermont – Fr., Attack, Port Perry, Ontario
  • Finished with four goals on five shots in an 11-10 win over Utah.
  • This is Drimmie’s first career #AEMLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
