BOSTON, MA - The 2025 America East Indoor Track and Field Championships kicked off today at Boston University Track & Tennis Center.
The men’s teams started off day one with a strong start. The UAlbany men’s team leads the pack with 51 points while Binghamton and New Hampshire are in a tight race behind the Great Danes closing up the top-3 with 39 and 32 points respectively.
On the women’s side, the Great Danes are also on top with 69.50 points, followed by Binghamton in second place with 57 points and New Hampshire coming in at 3rd with 41.50 points.
Day 1 Highlights
- Brian Luciano of Binghamton kicked things off winning his second #AETF individual title in the weight throw with a throw of 71’2.50".
- Simone Menchini came close to beating the America East Championship long jump record with a 7.53m jump to secure gold.
- Maine’s Cheyenne Figueroa took home the gold in the women's weight throw at 61’9.75”.
- Binghamton’s Alyssa Armitage took home gold for the third straight year in the pole vault. The Bearcat had another impressive performance with a 12’7.50” vault.
- Kalen Knott of Bryant broke the 2024 America East Championship record with a 16’0” pole vault.
- Bryant also took home the women’s pole vault as well. Iyana Braswell jumped a 19’3.50”.
- Repeat champion Josh Stone ran a 14:09.60 5000m to help Binghamton take home the gold.
- Chloe Whiting took home first place in the women’s 5000m as she sprinted through the finish line with a 16:17.69, nearly ten seconds faster than the rest of the crowd.
- In the men’s distance medley relay, UMBC finished first with a time of 9:46.51.
- The women’s distance medley relay beat last year’s time by two seconds. Bryant’s Grzybinski, Pineda, Degrenier, and MacElhiney ran for a 11:45.74.
