Men's #AEHoops Feb. 20 Recap

BOSTON – It was all about the home teams on Thursday night as each host school was able to secure the win.  Vermont, UMass Lowell, Binghamton, and UAlbany picked up wins on their own courts.

at UMass Lowell 98, UMBC 79  – Box Score
The Riverhawks had a massive first half with 54-points and did not look back. Max Brooks led all scorers with 30 points, five boards, five blocks, and two steals. Quinton Mincey had 24 points and 10 boards for the Riverhawks and Martin Somerville chipped in 18 points and 13 assists in the victory. UMBC was led by Bryce Johnson who had 19 points, four rebounds, and three steals.

at Binghamton 79, New Hampshire 60 – Box Score
Despite a close second half comeback from the Wildcats, Binghamton held on for the victory. With five players scoring in double-digits and shooting over 50% from the field, Binghamton had control of both sides of the court throughout the contest. Gavin Walsh led the way for Binghamton with 15 points and 13 rebounds while New Hampshires’ Khalil Badru had 14 points and three boards.
 
at UAlbany 79, Maine 68 – Box Score
An explosive second half helped lead UAlbany to a victory Thursday night. The Great Danes came out and outscored Maine 51-37 in the second half. Justin Neely came off the bench for UAlbany and led all scorers with 29 points and 11 boards. Amar’e Marshall scored 18 points and secured six boards on his way to scoring his 1,000th career point. Maine was led by A.J. Lopez who chipped in 17 points for the Black Bears.

at Vermont 59, Bryant 55 – Box Score
With 11 ties and 14 lead changes, this rematch brought exactly what fans were looking for. Vermont held their own throughout the contest and were able to secure the win with a steal and dunk from Ileri Ayo-Faleye with 15 seconds left. The Catamounts were led by T.J. Hurley’s 17 points and two rebounds while Rafael Pinzon was able to chip in 17 points and three boards for Bryant. The Catamounts have now won five in a row.
