Men's #AEHoops Feb. 1 Recap

BOSTON – The men’s #AEHoops season hit the halfway point on Saturday. Binghamton, Bryant, UMass Lowell and Vermont all picked up key wins.

Bryant stayed perfect and atop the league standings at 8-0 with a win at NJIT, while Vermont knocked off second-place Maine to move to 5-3. UMass Lowell won at UMBC while Binghamton outlasted UAlbany.

UMass Lowell 83, at UMBC 67  – Box Score
UMass Lowell shot 54 percent from the field, including 47 percent from three-point land en route to a 16-point win at UMBC. Quinton Mincey had a monster double-double of 26 points and 17 rebounds to lead the River Hawks. Marcus Banks paced the Retrievers with 16 points.

Binghamton 65, at UAlbany 61 – Box Score
Binghamton closed the game on a 13-4 run which included Tymu Chenery’s driving layup with 10 seconds left to seal a win at UAlbany. Gavin Walsh provided 15 points and 15 boards to lead the way for the Bearcats while Nehemiah Benson added 16. Byron Johnson led UAlbany with 15 points.
 
at Vermont 55, Maine 49 – Box Score
Shamir Bogues three-pointer with 30 seconds left broke a 49-all tie and Vermont held Maine to a season-low 49 points to improve to 5-3 in league play. TJ Hurley led the Catamounts with 15 points while Christopher Mantis paced the Black Bears with 12 off the bench.

Bryant 92, at NJIT 70 – Box Score
Bryant held NJIT to just 34 percent shooting and used a 16-3 run bridging the first and second halves to upend the Highlanders. Rafael Pinzon scored a game-high 29 points while Earl Timberlake added 14 points and 12 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season.  Tim Moore led NJIT with 16.
