Women's #AEHoops Feb. 13 Recap

BOSTON – With the regular season drawing to a close, Thursday night featured some dominant wins. The Great Danes, Highlanders, Catamounts, and Bearcats came away with the wins.

UAlbany knocked off UMass Lowell to stay atop the standings at 10-2 while Binghamton snapped UMBC’s four game winning streak. NJIT had a key win over Bryant and Vermont beat New Hampshire.

at UAlbany 59, UMass Lowell 44 – Box Score
UAlbany had a dominant first half and didn’t look back. Kayla Cooper led all scorers with 19 points and eight boards, but it was Lilly Phillips who was at the helm for most of the game. With three steals, a block, 17 points and shooting 6-11 from the field, Phillips played a key role in the win. UMass Lowell was led by Rayne Durant who had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

at NJIT 64, Bryant 53 – Box Score
The Highlanders shot 46% from the field and 45% from beyond the arc in the win over Bryant.  With four starters scoring in double-digits, NJIT put on a show in a crucial win. The Highlanders now secure fourth place in conference play at 7-5. Alejandra Zuniga led all scorers with 21 points and four boards while Mia Mancini came off the bench for Bryant and had 15 points along with four boards.

Vermont 55, at New Hampshire 46 – Box Score
Vermont jumped out to a 17-8 lead in the first quarter but New Hampshire was able to stay consistent for the rest of the contest. Vermont shot 50% from the field and was led by Nikola Priede’s 15 points and 10 rebounds. New Hampshire put up a competitive fight led by Eva DeChent, who had 16 points and two boards.

at Binghamton 58, UMBC 48 – Box Score
Binghamton had eight different scorers and eight three’s in the win. The Bearcats break UMBC’s four game win streak heading into the final weeks of the season. Bella Pucci went 3-for-4 behind the arc in the win and led Binghamton with 17 points and seven boards. UMBC was led by Jordon Lewis, who had 20 points along with five boards.
