BOSTON – The long-awaited America East men’s basketball conference slate for the 2024-25 season kicked off this past weekend and four teams are off to 1-0 starts as Binghamton, Bryant, UMass Lowell and Vermont posted victories. The first two-game week takes place this week with contests on Thursday and Saturday. All America East games can be watched on ESPN+.
The Week That Was
- Preseason favorite Vermont outscored UNH by 19 points in the second-half to post a 60-40 win over the Wildcats. TJ Hurley paced the Catamounts with 17 points.
- UMass Lowell extended its win streak to seven games with a 73-69 victory at UAlbany. Max Brooks and Quinton Mincey each had 16 points to lead a balanced attack.
- Bryant used a 37-10 run sandwiching the first and second halves and led by as many as 30 points in an 81-55 win over Maine.
- Gavin Walsh’s monster double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds paced Binghamton to an 87-82 win over UMBC. Both teams shot 55 percent from the field for the game.
The Week Ahead
- UMass Lowell hosts Vermont in a rematch of the last two America East championship games to highlight Thursday’s slate.
- Vermont’ tough road trip continues with a visit to Bryant on Saturday.

- The Black Bears’ Kellen Tynes ranks third in the nation averaging 3.1 steals per game.

- Binghamton’s Gavin Walsh is 10th nationally contributing 10.5 rebounds per game.
- NJIT’s Tariq Francis leads the league averaging 18.6 points per game.

- Had a double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds in Binghamton’s win over UMBC on Saturday.

Rookie of the Week
Quentin Duncan, NJIT – Fr., Guard, Waterbury, Conn.
- Scored a career-high 26 points in NJIT’s win over Medgar Evers on Saturday, his collegiate debut.
- Added six rebounds and two assists.
- This is Duncan’s first career #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
