#AETF Week 5: UAlbany Claims Five Awards

BOSTON –  All nine #AETF schools were in action as they primarily split between the River Hawk Invitational at the TRACK at New Balance and the Dr. Sander Invite at the the NYC Armory. In just over a month, all nine schools will descend upon Boston for the 2024-25 America East Indoor Track and Field Championship meet.

2024 #AETF Weekly Award Winners – Jan. 28

Male Field Athlete of the Week
Qualiar Newton, UAlbany - Jr., Hyde Park, N.Y.
  • Newton placed third in the weight throw with a mark of 20.18m
  • His throw ranks second in the conference this season and puts him top-50 in the nation
Male Track Athlete of the Week
Marquis Miller, UMBC - Sr.,Baltimore, Md.
  • Miller won the 400m at  Dr. Saner Scorcher meet with UMBC School-record, 47.87
  • His time currently ranks first in the conference 

Male Rookie of the Week
Tooni Ogunyeye, UAlbany - Fr., Brampton, Ontario, Canada
  • Ogunyeye Tied his personal-best of 6.77 to finish second in the 60m at he Dr. Sander Scorcher meet
  • This is his fifth-consecutive time running under 6.80 and his second time running 6.77

Female Field Athlete of the Week
Stephanie Green, UAlbany– Grad., Kingston, N.Y.
  • Green threw a personal-best 20.18m in the weight throw to finish 5th in a loaded field at the Dr. Sander Scorchers meet
  • Her mark ranks first in the conference and 32nd national this season

Female Track Athlete of the Week
Toni Galloway, UAlbany - Fr., Jamaica, N.Y.
  • Galloway finished second in the 60m hurdles running 8.44 at the Dr. Sander Scorcher meet
  • Her time is tied for first in the conference this season

Female Rookie of the Week
Miyanah Robinson, UAlbany - Fr., Syracuse, N.Y.
  • Robinson jumped a lifetime-best 1.73m to win the high jump at the Dr. Sander Scorcher meet
  • Her jump puts her at first in the conference this season
