BOSTON – Road teams continued their success on Thursdays as the visitors went 3-1 on Jan. 23. Bryant, Maine and UMBC all picked up wins aways from home as road teams improved to 9-3 on Thursdays. Vermont was the lone home squad to pull out a win.
Bryant stayed perfect and atop the league standings at 5-0 with a win at UNH, while Maine won its fifth-straight game to move to 5-1. Vermont improved to 4-1 while UMBC move to 2-4.
Bryant 95, at New Hampshire 76 – Box Score
Bryant scored 95 points, a season high vs. a Division I opponent, behind a season-high 27 points from Connor Withers. Rafael Pinzon and Barry Evans each had 18 points. Anthony McComb III had a career-best 22 off the bench for UNH.
Maine 86, at UMass Lowell 85 (OT) – Box Score
Trailing by five with 30 seconds left in overtime, Maine scored the final six points of the game to win its fifth-straight game and improve to 5-1 in #AEHoops play. Quion Burnes had 28 points while A.J. Lopez added 27 for the Black Bears, who are off to their best start in league play in 14 seasons. Quinton Mincey had 20 points to pace the River Hawks.
at Vermont 68, NJIT 64 – Box Score
Vermont jumped out to a 16-point lead, which NJIT cut to two, but the Catamounts held on to improve to 4-1 in league play. Ileri Ayo-Faleye scored a career-best 27 points and added nine rebounds while Shamir Bogues added a double-double of 14 points and 11 boards. Tariq Francis’ 21 points paced NJIT.
UMBC 92, at UAlbany 87 – Box Score
UMBC overcame a 15-point halftime deficit and put up a combined 64 points in the second half and overtime to snap a two-game losing skid. Bryce Johnson’s 23 points paced four Retrievers in double figures. Amar’e Marshall poured in a game-high 25 points for UAlbany.
