#AETF Week 3: Bryant, UMBC, UMass Lowell, Vermont Claim Weekly Awards

BOSTON –  Four #AETF teams returned to action this past week as Bryant, UMBC, UMass Lowell and Vermont began the second half of their seasons. 

All nine track & field programs will be back in full swing this week with a little over a month to until the America East Indoor Track & Field Championships.

2024 #AETF Weekly Award Winners – Jan. 14

Male Field Athlete of the Week
Kalen Knott, Bryant– So., Seward, Neb.
  • Knott became the school record holder in the men’s pole vault after clearing 4.70m at the UMass Flagship Indoor Invitational.
  • This is Knott's first #AETF weekly honor.
Male Track Athlete of the Week
Marquis Miller, UMBC– Sr., Baltimore, Md.
  • Miller took the 400 meters at the VCU Invitational as he crossed the line in 48.50 
  • This is Miller's first #AETF weekly honor.

Male Rookie of the Week
Justin Banks, UMBC– Fr., Frederick, MD
  • Justin Banks led four top 10 finishers for the Dawgs in the 1000 meters as he took first with a time of 2:28.57 at the VCU Invitational.
  • This Bank's first #AETF weekly honor

Female Field Athlete of the Week
Avery Pitts, UMass Lowell– Fr., Willington, Conn.
  • Pitts performed well in the high jump at the Suffolk Relays, claiming fifth place with a mark of 1.63m.
  • This is Pitt's first #AETF weekly honor

Female Track Athlete of the Week
Jayani Santos, UMass Lowell– So., Tewksbury, Mass.
  • Santos performed well at the Suffolk Relays, winning the 400 meter by just under a second with a time of 56.64.
  • This is her first #AETF weekly honor

Female Rookie of the Week
Isabella Fryer, Vermont– Fr., Brewster, NY
  • Won the 3000 meters at the Dartmouth Relays with a personal best of 10:06.53.
  • Her mark currently ranks fourth in the America East and second among freshmen
  • This is Fryer's first #AETF weekly honor
