BOSTON – Maine went 2-1 over the weekend as four programs earned a victory during the first days of the #AEFH season.
Need to Know:
- The Black Bears are a league-best 2-1, following wins over UMass and Indiana. The team’s lone loss was a 3-0 defeat at the hands of No. 1 Northwestern on the road.
- No. 20 UAlbany fell to Ohio State but rebounded with a strong 4-0 shutout of Ohio thanks to a hat trick from Allison Smisdom.
- Bryant edged Fairfield in its opener 2-1 and then fell by that same score to local foe Providence on Sunday.
- The River Hawks started their campaign with a 6-0 shutout of Merrimack before falling 3-1 to No. 5 Duke on the road.
- UNH went winless last week, falling 4-2 to No. 13 Saint Joseph’s and then 6-2 to UConn.
- 14 games are on the schedule this weekend. Maine hosts Hofstra and Central Michigan for a pair while UAlbany welcomes Merrimack and Cornell.

Offensive Player of the Week
Alison Smisdom, UAlbany – Sr., Mid/Def, Antwerp, Belgium
- Scored a hat trick in a 4-0 victory over Ohio.
- Have five shots on goal against the Bobcats and added two more shots on goal against No. 14 Ohio State in an opening day loss.
- This is Smisdom’s fourth career #AEFH Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Rozarie Mrazova, Maine – Gr., Goalkeeper, Rakovnik, Czech Republic
- Went 2-1 with just 3 GA in 143:07 minutes of action with 18 saves.
- Played the final 53.07 against UMass without allowing a goal and making four saves for the OT victory.
- Gave up two goals at Indiana with eight saves in a 4-2 victory and shut out No. 1 Northwestern for a half.
- This is Mrazova’s first #AEFH Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Karlijn Kerkhof, UMass Lowell – Fr., Forward, Rotterdam, Netherlands
- Recorded two goals and one assist in a 1-1 week.
- Had one goal and one assist with eight shots in a 6-0 win over Merrimack.
- Scored lone UML goal in 3- 1 loss to No. 5 Duke.
- This is Kerkhof’s first #AEFH Rookie of the Week honor.
