BOSTON – The Bearcats were the only #AEMSOC program to go 2-0-0 last week, while the Vermont offense scored five times in the final full week before conference play begins on Saturday.
Need to Know:
- The Bearcats claimed their fourth consecutive victory with 2-1 win over CCSU on Saturday, after beating Saint Peter’s 3-1 midweek. It the program’s longest win streak since 2007.
- Vermont secured its third straight win with a 5-0 blowout of Harvard on Saturday evening, led by two goals from Marcel Papp.
- New Hampshire outshot No. 12 Hofstra 18-5 but were unable to score as they fell 1-0 to the Pride.
- Bryant and NJIT both went 1-1 last week, winning midweek and falling on Saturday.
- Bryant, UMass Lowell and UAlbany all play on Tuesday before #AEMSOC play opens on Saturday.
- The Catamounts host UNH in a crucial early season battle at 1 p.m., while UMass Lowell welcomes UAlbany at 6 p.m.
- UMBC travels to Binghamton for a 6:07 kickoff while Bryant plays at NJIT to cap off the action at 7 p.m.

- Scored twice in a 5-0 shutout of Harvard on Saturday.
- This is Papp’s first career #AEMSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Lou Liedtka, Vermont – Gr., Goalkeeper, Wyncote, Pa.
- Finished with a three-save shutout against Harvard, facing ten shots in total.
- This is Liedtka’s second #AEMSOC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Ryan Gillon, Binghamton – Fr., Defense, Commack, N.Y.
- Dished off the game-winning assist in a 3-1 victory over Saint Peter’s.
- Made first two career starts in a pair of wins as Binghamton extended its win streak to four.
- This is Gillon’s first #AEMSOC Rookie of the Week honor.

The America East is one of the best men’s soccer conferences in the country. In 2023 the league finished sixth in RPI among all conferences and three teams were selected to the NCAA Tournament. Overall The conference has received multiple bids to the NCAA tournament in four of the past eight seasons, with Vermont and New Hampshire reaching each of the past three years. Four different teams have reached the third round of the NCAA tournament since 2014, highlighted by UMBC getting all the way to the College Cup in 2014.
