#AEXC Week 3 Awards Revealed Following Busy Weekend On The Trails

BOSTON – Five teams competed this past weekend with impressive finishes. On Friday, Binghamton and UAlbany both raced in the Iona Br. Paddy Doyle Meet of Champions, while UMBC took part in the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational.  

Meanwhile, Vermont traveled to the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational hosted by Dartmouth College on Saturday. Finally, NJIT participated in the Jasper Fall XC Invitational to round out the weekend.  

2024 #AEXC Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 17  
Female Performer of the Week

Sydney Leitner, Binghamton – Jr., Yorktown Heights, N.Y.  

  • Placed fifth out of 71 runners in the Iona Meet of Champions on Friday at a time of 18:27.2 (5K).
  • Leitner dashed to a 5:56 pace to ignite the Bearcats to third place out of eight teams. 

Female Rookie of the Week
Isabella Fryer, Vermont – Fr., Brewster, N.Y.  

  • Finished 21st at the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational with a time of 23:31.20 (6K).
  • Fryer was the second point scorer on the third-place Catamounts on Saturday. 

Male Performer of the Week
Eldad Mulugeta, UMBC – Gr. Silver Spring, Md.  

  • Finished seventh in the 5.2-mile Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational on Friday morning at 25:04.4.
  • Ran his Retriever debut at a 4:49 pace per mile pace. 

Male Rookie of the Week
Daniel Danilovitz, UMBC – Fr., Moosic, Pa.  

  • Raced to a 44th-place finish at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational with a time of 25:56.
  • Fifth-best finish for freshmen in the race.
