PARIS, France – Elle St. Pierre, a 2018 University of New Hampshire graduate, placed eighth on Saturday in the final round of the 1,500 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

This is the second consecutive Olympiad that St. Pierre advanced to the 1,500m final.

St. Pierre placed eighth out of 12 runners in the 1,500-meter final round on Aug. 10 with a time of 3 minutes, 57.52 seconds. The winning time clocked in at 3:51.49.

St. Pierre ran on the heels of the leader the opening lap and was in second place through 400m. She held steady behind the leader and was in fourth place through 800m and fifth place at the end of three laps before crossing the finish line in eighth place.

St. Pierre advanced to the final by placing third in her heat in both the first round on Aug. 6 and semifinal on Aug. 8.

USA Teammate and Binghamton alum Emily Mackay advanced to the semifinals of the 1500 meters, but failed to advance to the final her first Olympics. Mackay and St. Pierre were two of six Olympians with ties to the America East. Former UAlbany standout Grace Claxton competed in the 400 meter hurdles while Stony Brook’s India Pagan played basketball for Puerto Rico. Bryant’s Natalia Kuipers swam in the 400 meters for U.S. Virgin Islands and NJIT incoming freshman Illias El Fallaki also swam in the 400 meters.
