Maine & NJIT Women’s Basketball Ranked Among the Best in the Nation

BOSTON – The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association released its Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for Division I, recognizing Maine and NJIT for posting two of the top 25 cumulative team GPAs in the country.

Maine posted the third best GPA in the entire nation with a 3.856, just 0.010 behind first place Youngstown State. It marks the fourth consecutive season Maine has finished in the top five and they are only school in the nation to be ranked among the top five each of the last four years. The Black Bears are also the defending America East Champions after winning both the regular season and tournament title during the 2023-24 season.

NJIT earned its first Top 25 honor from the WBCA as the Highlanders came in at No. 25 with a GPA of 3.595. In addition to NJIT, UAlbany (3.521), Binghamton (3.438), New Hampshire (3.328) and UMass Lowell (3.117) all boasted team GPA’s over 3.0. View the complete Top 25 here.

Last month the NCAA released its annual Academic Progress Rate (APR) and America East women’s basketball posted the top APR score in the nation. All nine women’s basketball programs received a perfect overall score of 1000, the only league in the country to accomplish that feat.
