Binghamton Wins 2023-24 Stuart P. Haskell, Jr. Commissioner’s Cup

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After winning three conference championships and a number of strong performances over the last year, Binghamton University secured the 2023-24 Stuart P. Haskell, Jr. Commissioner's Cup, as announced by the league Wednesday evening.
   
The Bearcats earned the university’s second overall Commissioner’s Cup on the strength of three conference championship, three regular season title and two runner-up performances. Binghamton totaled 335 points to edge second-place UAlbany by just 10 points, as the Great Danes finished with 325. Bryant came in third with 313 points while UMass Lowell was fourth with 291 points. UVM (273) and UMBC (261) rounded out the top six.
 
The Commissioner's Cup annually recognizes the strongest athletic program in America East as determined by a scoring system which rewards a school for success both during the regular season and championship competition across all conference-sponsored sports. View the complete year-by-year Commissioner's Cup standings.

  • Binghamton earned its second straight Commissioner’s Cup after finishing sixth for the 2021-22 Academic year.
  • UAlbany has finished first or second for 13 consecutive years and four teams win conference championships
  • Bryant took third place with 313 points after finishing eighth with 219 points during the 2022-23 academic year.
  • The Bulldogs won their first league titles in men’s soccer and baseball, while earning a runner-up finish in men’s swimming and diving.
  • UMass Lowell finished in the top four for the fourth time in the last five years.
  • For the first time since 2016-17 three different schools finished with over 300 points.
  • The top three schools were separated by just 22 points in the standings. It is the closest finish between the top three schools in league history. In 2004-05, UAlbany (380), Boston University (368) and Binghamton (357) were separated by just 23 points.
  • Six different programs claimed their first ever America East championships this past year. On the women’s side, Binghamton cross country, Maine women’s soccer, Vermont swimming & diving and Binghamton women’s lacrosse. On the men’s side, Bryant won its first men’s soccer title and its first baseball championship.
 
Binghamton Excellence
  • The Bearcats captured their first-ever championships in women’s cross country and women’s lacrosse this past year.
  • Binghamton men’s swimming & diving won the #AESD Title for the second time in the last four years.
  • Women’s soccer and softball both earned regular season titles in 2023-24.
  • Women’s indoor track & field and outdoor track & field both earned runner-up finishes, along with volleyball in the fall.
 
Championship Streaks
  • UAlbany women’s track and field won its 15th straight outdoor championship.
  • UMBC Volleyball won its fourth consecutive title.
  • UMass Lowell men’s cross country earned its fourth straight America East championship.
