EUGUENE, OR - A total of three America East student-athletes are headed to the University of Oregon, to compete in the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships after qualifying at the NCAA East preliminaries. The championships will begin Wednesday, June 5 and go through Saturday, June 8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
The first to compete of the America East athletes will be Ludith Campos of UAlbany, and Maine’s Mackenzie Wilson. Both are competing in the women’s hammer throw which will begin at 3pm (PT) on Thursday, June 6. Campos finished 8th in the NCAA East preliminaries, qualifying herself for the national championship with a distance of 205’6”. Wilson finished right behind Campos at 9th in the East preliminaries, earning her spot in the NCAA Championships with a throw of 203’.
UAlbany’s Amelia Benjamin will round out the America East athletes competing at the NCAA Championships competing in the women’s high jump. The freshman continues her successful rookie year after qualifying for the NCAA Championships finishing 11th at the NCAA East preliminaries clearing a height of 5' 11.25". Benjamin will compete in the women’s high jump on the national stage on Saturday, June 8th at 2pm (PT).
Previously, 25 America East student-athletes have qualified for NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships over the past eight years. This is the second year in a row that three America East student-athletes will be competing on the national stage.
