BOSTON – The Great Danes earned an impressive sweep of NJIT, while UMass Lowell and Maine also won twice last weekend to create a log jam in the middle of the #AEBASE standings with three weeks left in the regular season.
UAlbany’s sweep put them right back in the playoff picture, taking down the Highlanders 17-11, 8-7 and then 6-5. UMass Lowell won 2-0 and 5-3 in its two victories. Maine beat Binghamton 4-3 and 9-3 to open their series before the Bearcats finished off the weekend with a 21-4 win. Bryant did take one contest from Pitt in its three-game series.
With three weeks left in the regular season, Bryant (13-2) has a five-game lead over 8-7 UMBC, while there are four teams who have six or seven victories. This weekend the Retrievers look to bounce back at home against Maine, while the Bulldogs travel to NJIT for three. UAlbany will welcome UMass Lowell and Binghamton will head to Middle Tennessee.
The preseason poll was announced on January 24.
