BOSTON – The Vermont Catamounts are in the midst of their best postseason run in program history and look to keep it going tonight when they host A-10 foe Saint Louis in the WNIT Fab Four at 6 p.m.
Vermont (25-11) advanced past the WNIT Quarterfinals for the first time in program history on Monday as UVM outscored Purdue 44-30 in the second half to turn a six-point deficit into an eight-point victory. The Catamount offense and defense both stepped up on the road for their America East win over a Big Ten program since the league had a pair in November of 2021.Four players scored in double figures for UVM led by Emma Utterback with 20 points and six assists. Bella Vito added 14 points, 11 rebounds and three steals in the victory.
Saint Louis (20-18) continued its late season surge with a 65-60 victory over Wisconsin. It was their ninth win in their last ten games and their fourth straight. Peyton Kennedy posted 31 points for the Billikins, and she is averaging 23.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in four WNIT contests. This marks the first 20-win season for the Billikins in eight years.
UVM has five players averaging 9.0 points per game or more led by 16.3 from Emma Utterback. Utterback is also averaging a team-high 3.7 assists per game while connecting on 41.3 percent of her shots. Keira Hanson is second on the team averaging 13.3 points per game on 48.4 percent shooting from the floor and 38.5 percent from three alongside 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Bella Vito has averaged 9.3 points and 8.0 rebounds on 73.3 percent shooting from the floor in the WNIT. Anna Olson is also in double figures with 11.8 points per game.
