BOSTON – Just one weekend remains in the regular season for #AEWLAX & #AEMLAX, while softball is entering its final two weeks of competition. Baseball enters the second half of its season this weekend.
Men’s Lacrosse
Just one game left for #AEMLAX and almost nothing has been decided as six teams could qualify for the four-team field. Three different teams (UAlbany, Binghamton & Bryant) could still capture the No. 1 seed, but with a loss both Binghamton and Bryant could miss the playoffs as well. UAlbany is the only team which has clinched a tournament berth and if they take down the Bearcats on Saturday evening, they’ll earn their first outright regular season title since 2017.
UMBC (4-2) looks to get back in the tournament after missing it a year ago, while Vermont (4-2) has made five straight trips to the playoffs. If Binghamton takes down UAlbany it could set up a four-way tie for the regular season title, depending on results earlier in the day.
Schedule
Merrimack (3-3) at Bryant (4-2) – 12 PM
UMBC (4-2) at Vermont (4-2) – 12 PM
UMass Lowell (0-6) at NJIT (0-6) – 1 PM
Binghamton (4-2) at UAlbany (4-2) – 7 PM
Women’s Lacrosse
UAlbany and Binghamton are tied atop the #AEWLAX Standings at 4-1 with just a single game remaining. Should both teams win on Saturday they would each earn a share of the regular season title, but UAlbany would host due to their win over the Bearcats last month. Binghamton could earn hosting duties with a victory and a UAlbany loss to New Hampshire.
UMBC (4-2) has finished its regular season and could be seeded 2, 3 or 4 depending on the results of Saturday. Bryant (3-2) and UMass Lowell (2-3) are fighting for the final tournament berth. The Bulldogs would secure their first-ever berth with a win over Binghamton, but would be out if they end up tied at 3-3 with UMass Lowell, due to the River Hawks head-to-head victory earlier this season. UML is also looking for its first-ever tournament berth but needs to beat UVM.
Schedule
UAlbany (4-1) at UNH (0-5) – 12 PM
Vermont (1-4) at UML (2-3) – 12 PM
Bryant (3-2) at Binghamton (4-1) – 1 PM
Softball
Bryant has taken over first place in the #AESB Standings thanks to a 10-game win streak and has won seven straight conference games. The Bulldogs have already doubled their conference win total from last year at 12-3 and could possibly clinch at least a share of the regular season title with a sweep of Binghamton this weekend.
Binghamton (10-4) is just one game back of Bryant in the loss column, while UAlbany (9-5) is two back. The Bearcats could stay right on the Bulldogs heels by taking the series as they look for their first regular season title since 2017. The Great Danes face the UMBC, with hopes of keeping the Retrievers from clinching their fourth straight regular season title.
Schedule (Sat, Sun)
UAlbany at UMBC – 12/ 2 PM, 12 PM
Bryant at Binghamton – 12/2 PM, 12 PM
Maine at UMass Lowell – 1/3 PM, 12 PM
Baseball
We’ve reached the midpoint of the regular season and Bryant sits comfortably in first place at 13-2. The Bulldogs face Pitt this weekend as they’ve played more league games than second place UMBC (7-5) and third place (NJIT). The Retrievers, meanwhile, travel to face UMass Lowell who is 7-7, while NJIT plays at UAlbany.
Earning one of the top two seeds for conference tournament is the goal of each team as it allows them to avoid the opening day of the #AEBASE Tournament, which features a pair of single elimination contests between the bottom four teams in the tournament field. The No. 1 or No. 2 seed has won each of the last eight #AEBASE Tournament Championships.
Schedule (Fri, Sat, Sun)
Binghamton at Maine – 3 PM, 1 PM, 11 AM
NJIT at UAlbany – 3 PM, 1 PM, 12 PM
UMBC at UMass Lowell – 3 PM, 1 PM, 12 PM
