#AEMLAX Week #12: UAlbany Clinches Tourney Bid, 5 teams Fighting for 3 Spots

BOSTON – The final week of the men’s lacrosse regular season is here and still much is left to be decided in America East. Only UAlbany has secured a spot in the #AEMLAX championship field while five schools are fighting for the final three spots.

The Great Danes beat Merrimack, 14-8, to lock up a tourney bid. UAlbany can win the regular-season title and host the championship with a win over Binghamton next week. Elswhere over the weekend, Bryant beat Binghamton, 17-11, while UMBC defeated 13-9 and Verrmont upended UMass Lowell, 18-9.

This weekend, UMBC and Vermont square off, Merrimack meets Bryant and UAlbany hosts Binghamton in the key matchups of the week.
 
 
The preseason poll was announced on January 16.
 
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of the #AEMLAX this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. #AEMLAX Weekly Award Winners – April 22
Offensive Player of the Week
Aidan Goltz, Bryant – Sr., Attack, Newport Beach, Calif.
  • Scored a career-high six goals in Bryant’s key 17-11 win over Binghamton.
  • This is Goltz’s first #AEMLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jayson Tingue, UMBC – Sr., Goalkeeper, Bay Shore, N.Y.
  • Matched career high with 15 saves in UMBC’s 13-6 win over NJIT.
  • Recorded a .714 save percentage.
  • Grabbed four ground balls.
  • This is Tingue’s second #AEMLAX Defensive Player of the Week of the season.
 
Faceoff Specialist of the Week
Regan Endres, UAlbany – Sr., FO, Farmington, N.Y.
  • Won 36 faceoffs in two games last week, including going 19-for-23 in win over Merrimack.
  • Picked up 27 ground balls.
  • Also scored a goal.
  • This is Endres’ second #AEMLAX Faceoff Specialist of the Week honor of the season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Scott Einarson, Bryant – Fr., Goalkeeper, Billerica, Mass.
  • Made a career-high 17 saves in Bryant’s 17-11 win over Binghamton.
  • Had a .607 save percentage.
  • This is Einarson’s second career #AEMLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
