Week 3 #AETF Awards Highlighted by Broken School Records

Boston, MA - All nine #AETF schools were back in action this weekend, with 2 hosting meets in Bryant and UMass Lowell. In the regional rankings, UMBC men’s team is ranked 11th in the Mid-Atlantic Region and NJIT broke into the top 25. UAlbany’s men's team is currently 4th in the Northeast Region, with Binghamton and Maine both in the top-25. On the women’s side, UAlbany’s women’s team leads the pack at 4th in the Northeast, followed by UMBC at 14th in the Mid-Atlantic, Binghamton, Bryant, Maine, and UMass Lowell all in the top-25 in the Northeast. 
 
Here are the week 3 #AETF Award Winners: 
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Jacob Leigh, NJIT - Sr., Sprints, Scotch Plains, NJ
  • Placed 3rd in the 200m with a time of 21.36. Leigh sets a new NJIT school record in the event and is ranked 1st in America East. 
  • Took 5th in the 100m clocking in at 10.62, which puts him at 4th in the conference
  • Leigh also helped NJIT’s 4x100 relay team to a 3rd place finish. Leigh anchored the relay with the team coming in at 41.64. 
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
James Kotowski, UMass Lowell - Jr., Throws, Stoneham, MA
  • Took home gold in the javelin with a toss of 237’ 9”
  • His throw is a new UMass Lowell record and puts him tied for 11th in the NCAA. 
 
Female Track Performer of the Week
Maddie Stevens, NJIT - Jr., Sprints, Nashua, NH
  • Stevens placed first in the 400m coming in at 54.30. She set a new NJIT school record in the event and is ranked 2nd in the Mid-Atlantic Region. 
  • She also helped lead the Highlanders’ 4x400 relay team to a second place finish. The relay team clocked in at 3:50.90, which is ranked 2nd in America East.  
 
Female Field Performer of the Week 
Mackenzie Wilson, Maine - Gr., Throws, Lasalle, Ontario
  • Took 2nd in the hammer throw with a toss of 203’ 6”.
  • Wilson broke Maine's all-time school record and is currently 24th in the NCAA.
