BOSTON – Bryant earned its second consecutive conference sweep to stay in first, while UMBC also won three #AEBASE games this weekend, as the two sit atop the conference standings.
The Bulldogs are 11-1 in league play and have won 17 of 19 games overall. They swept Binghamton 10-3, 10-2, and 7-2 this past weekend. UMBC, meanwhile, is 6-3 in #AEBASE action after taking down UAlbany 12-2, 13-5 and 12-7. UMass Lowell captured 2 of 3 from Maine, winning 11-10 and 14-9 after dropping Friday’s contest 5-2.
All seven teams are in action mid-week before another weekend of league play. Starting Friday, Bulldogs look to keep up their hot play at home against UMass Lowell for a three-game set, while NJIT welcomes UMBC for three as well. Binghamton plays hosts to UAlbany in the final conference series of the weekend.
The preseason poll was announced on January 24.

Gavin Noriega, Bryant – Sr., Senior, Bronx, N.Y.
- Went 6-for-12 on the week, slugging 1.2500 with a .611 on-base percentage while driving in eight runs.
- Finished 3-for-5 with five RBI, a triple and a home run in a 10-3 win to open the series against Binghamton.
- This is Noriega’s second straight #AEBASE Player of the Week honor this season.
Pitcher of the Week
Tyler Horvat, Bryant – Gr., Pitcher, Irwin, Pa.
- Scatted seven hits over 9.0 innings while giving up one earned run with eight strikeouts in a complete-game victory.
- Held Binghamton to two extra base hits in the contest, without walking a batter.
- This is Horvat’s first #AEBASE Pitcher of the Week honor this season.
Rookie of the Week
Danny Wyatt, UMBC – Fr., Catcher, Oxford, Pa.
- In a three-game sweep of UAlbany, slashed .400/.800/1.338 with 4 doubles, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored.
- Went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs in Saturday’s 13-5 win.
- This is Wyatt’s second career #AEBASE Rookie of the Week honor.
