#AEMLAX Week 11: Six Teams Within a Game of First Place with 2 Weeks Left

BOSTON – There are only two weeks left in the 2024 #AEMLAX regular season and so much is still at stake. After the weekend’s action that saw UAlbany, Binghamton, Merrimack and Vermont pick up wins, six teams are fighting for the four spots in the conference championship field while the regular-season crown is still up for grabs.
 
Coming into the weekend, four teams sat tied for first place at 3-1. Two of those teams, UAlbany and Binghamton, improved to 4-1 with wins and are tied for first. The Bearcats earned their fourth-straight victory, a 21-10 trouncing of UMBC while the Great Danes got back in the win column with a 14-9 victory at NJIT. Elsewhere, the Catamounts picked up a key 16-12 win over Bryant while the Warriors knocked off UMass Lowell, 14-9.
 
Bryant, UMBC, Merrimack and Vermont sit one game back of UAlbany and Binghamton at 3-2. This weekend, Binghamton hosts Bryant, NJIT visits UMBC and on Saturday while on Saturday Vermont visits Binghamton, NJIT welcomes UAlbany and Binghamton hosts UMBC and UMass Lowell welcomes Vermont, all on Saturday. On Sunday, Merrimack hosts UAlbany.
 
The preseason poll was announced on January 16.

Offensive Player of the Week
Liam Ferris, Binghamton – Sr., Midfielder, Glenmont, N.Y.
  • Matched his career highs with six points and four goals in a dominating win over UMBC.
  • Added a pair of assists.
  • This is Ferris’ first #AEMLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jake Piseno, UAlbany – Gr., Long Stick Midfielder, Liverpool, N.Y.
  • Caused three turnovers and picked up five ground balls while helping hold NJIT to just nine goals in a win Saturday.
  • Also scored a goal with the long pole.
  • This is Piseno’s second #AEMLAX Defensive Player of the Week of the season.
 
Faceoff Specialist of the Week
Ross Chazanow, Binghamton – Sr., Faceoff Specialist, Dallas, Texas
  • Won 20 of 32 faceoffs and picked up 12 ground balls in a 21-10 win over Vermont.
  • Also scored a goal and added an assist.
  • This is Chazanow’s second-straight #AEMLAX Faceoff Specialist of the Week honor of the season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Andrew Girolamo, Binghamton – Fr., Attack, Mahopac, N.Y.
  • Registered career highs in points (6), goals (4) and assists (2) in Binghamton’s win over UMBC.
  • This is Girolamo’s first career #AEMLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
