BOSTON – Conference play opened this weekend as Binghamton took a pair from NJIT, while the other #AEBASE programs came away with eight other victories this past week.
Binghamton sits in first place in the league standings after taking two of three from NJIT, the series win was highlighted by a walk-off grand slam from Isaiah Corry in Saturday’s contest. Elsewhere, UMass Lowell nearly took two of three from Penn State but settled for one win, while Bryant earned an impressive sweep over Brown and UMBC took 2 of 3 from Yale.
All seven teams are in action this weekend, with five more teams beginning conference play. UMass Lowell hosts UAlbany for three, while Maine travels to Bryan and Binghamton plays at UMBC. NJIT faces Fairfield in non-conference action.
The preseason poll was announced on January 24.

Player of the Week
Anthony Swenda, UMBC – Sr., Infield, Bridgeport, PA
- Slashed .571/.786/1.500 in a 3-1 week, with eight hits, ten runs and seven RBI.
- Finished 3-for-4 with three runs and 3 RHI in a 12-4 win over Towson
- Went 2-for-4 with one run in the series finale 6-1 win.
- This is Swenda’s first career #AEBASE Player of the Week honor.
Pitcher of the Week
Jayden Shertel, UMBC – Jr., Pitcher, Mays Landing, N.J.
- Went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and eight strikeouts in a 7-0 win over Yale.
- Allowed just four singles and needed only 80 pitches to get through 7.0 IP.
- This is Shertel’s second career #AEBASE Pitcher of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Jason Kreiger, Maine – Fr., Pitcher, Red Lion, Pa.
- Posted a 0.00 ERA in 7.0 IP and two appearances with six strikeouts and two hits allowed.
- Started and went 6.0 IP without allowing a run and striking out five with five walks to earn a no decision against FAU.
- This is Kreiger’s first career #AEBASE Rookie of the Week honor.
