Women's Basketball 2/9/2024 9:13:15 AM Women's #AEHoops Feb. 8 Recap BOSTON – UAlbany held off a tough Binghamton squad, while Vermont, UMass Lowell and Bryant all came through with wins on Thursday night. UAlbany 60, Binghamton 52 – Box Score It was the Bearcats who came out firing early, leading 15-14 after one and then 27-21 at the half. However, the Great Danes outscored Binghamton 23-10 in the third and then by one in the fourth for the eight-point victory. Lilly Phillips had a career-high 19 points while Kayla Cooper added 13 and eight rebounds. Genevieve Coleman led Binghamton with 17 points and one steal. Vermont 76, NJIT 51 – Box Score NJIT shot their way to a 16-15 lead in the opening quarter. The Catamounts responded by outscoring the Highlanders 40-21 in the second and third quarters to come away the 25-point victory. Emma Utterback paced UVM with 23 points, three assists and three steals while Delaney Richason added 13 points. Alejandra Zuniga had 15 points, five assists and three steals for NJIT. UMass Lowell 71, UMBC 60 – Box Score The River Hawks grabbed a 36-27 lead at the half and extended to 15 points after 30 minutes of action. UMBC put up 15 points in the fourth but it wasn’t enough as UML secured the 11-point win. Four players scored in double figures for the River Hawks, led by freshman Abbey Lindsey with 21 points and two steals. Anna Blount came through with a career-high 33 points, 13 rebounds and three steals for UMBC. Bryant 71, New Hampshire 68 – Box Score The Bulldogs appeared to be in control, taking a 39-27 lead at the half and leading by 12 entering the fourth. The Wildcats went on a 17-6 run and pulled within one, 61-60, with three minutes left. They tied it up 64 apiece with 1:19 remaining, but Mia Mancini put Bryant ahead for good with a triple with 35 seconds left. Mariona Planes Fortuny had a team-high 24 points and three rebounds while Mia Mancini added 17 points, four rebounds and three assists. Maggie Cavanaugh scored a team-high 18 points off the bench for UNH. SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10 Four teams are tied for fourth in the standings with a 4-6 record. Maine currently sits in second with an 8-1 mark while Vermont is third at 8-2.
