BOSTON, MA - A busy weekend for eight #AETF teams that were in action this weekend. Some competed in multiple meets over the past weekend. The Great Danes lead all #AETF teams in the regional rankings at 9th for the men and 7th for the women’s teams. Coming up this next weekend eight teams are competing in their last meets before the 2024 #AETF Championships.
The 2024 #AETF Championships are just two short weeks away. #AETF Championships will be held at the New Balance Facility in Boston, Mass on Feb. 19 & 20. Find out all the information at #AETF Championship Central.
Here are the week 6 #AETF weekly awards:
Female Track Performer of the Week
Jenna Chan, Binghamton - Sr., Sprints, Roseland, NJ
- Earned gold in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.49
- Chan broke own school record with this time and is ranked first in the conference and sixth in the Northeast region
Female Field Performer of the Week
Martina Nkwantah, UMass Lowell - Sr., Throws, Pepperell, MA
- Nkwantah finished first in the shot put at both the Harvard Crimson Elite and the BU Scarlet & White Invite this past weekend with distances of 47’ 10.5” and 49’ 5”, respectively.
- She also placed 9th in the weight throw, with a distance of 52’ 10.75” - would be 7th in AE - would be 39 in NE.
Male Track Performer of the Week
Antwone Messado, UAlbany - Jr., Sprints, Mount Vernon, NY
- Finished first in the 60 hurdles with a time of 7.99. Messado set a personal best and is the 4th Great Dane to break 8.00 in men’s 60H.
- Messado placed 36th in the 200 with a personal best of 22.00, putting him at 7th in America East
Male Field Performer of the Week
Louis Gordon, UAlbany - Sr., Jumps, Bodden Town, Grand Cayman
- In the long jump, Gordon placed second with a distance of 24’ 9.25”
- His jump breaks the indoor program record for UAlbany, and Gordon now holds the indoor and outdoor record for the Great Danes
