BOSTON – Binghamton and Maine both earned impressive sweeps, while New Hampshire had one of its best wins of the year to highlight a wild week of women’s #AEHoops action.
The Week That Was
- Vermont earned a hard-fought 64-59 victory at UAlbany on Thursday to snap the Great Danes’ 14-game win streak and drop them to 7-1 in league play and into a three-way tie with UVM and Maine. UAlbany rebounded from that loss with a 69-55 win over UMBC on Saturday.
- Binghamton started its week with a 63-58 victory over NJIT and then took down Vermont 66-57 at home to close out the week. The Bearcats outscored UVM by 16 points in the second half to secure their fourth win in the last five games.
- Maine also went 2-0 last week to improve to 8-1 in #AEHoops action and tied atop the standings with UAlbany. The Black Bears took down UMass Lowell 68-49 on Thursday and then used a dominant third quarter to push past Bryant 70-58 on the road.
- New Hampshire came out strong on Saturday, leading 31-14 at the half on the way to a 66-52 win over UMass Lowell
- UMBC secured a 64-62 win over Bryant on a buzzer-beating layup by Laura Lacambra.
Looking Ahead
- The Bearcats look to keep up the win streak when they travel up I-88 to face UAlbany on Thursday and then head to Bryant on Saturday.
- Vermont is home for a pair of contests, welcoming NJIT and UMBC this week.
- The Wildcats look to keep up their recent play, hosting Bryant on Thursday and then traveling to Maine on Saturday.
- UMass Lowell is also home twice, taking on UMBC and then NJIT.

Player of the Week
Adrianna Smith, Maine – Jr., F, Reston, Va.
- Averaged 20.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game in a 2-0 week.
- Finished with 25 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals against UMass Lowell.
- Went off for 25 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and three steals in a win over Bryant.
- This is Smith’s third #AEHoops Player of the Week honor this year.
Rookie of the Week
Deja Evans, UAlbany – Fr., F, Conshohocken, Pa.
- Averaged 13.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game in a 1-1 week.
- Had a team-high 21 points with six rebounds in a loss to Vermont.
- Followed it up with six points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks in a win over UMBC.
- This is Evans’ fourth #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
