Track & Field 2/20/2024 5:54:37 PM The Great Danes Are Back On Top! UAlbany Claims #AETF Championship Sweep! BOSTON, MA - The Great Danes return as champions, sweeping the 2024 Indoor #AETF Championships. For the 10th time in America East history UAlbany claims both the men’s and women’s indoor track and field championship titles. On the men’s side, UAlbany earned a total of 165 points. Led by multiple broken conference records and gold medals. UMass Lowell claimed second place with a total of 144.5 points, followed by Binghamton with 119.5 points. The women’s UAlbany team dominated the championship finishing with a total of 191 points. Binghamton had a total of 134 points earning them the second place for the first time since 2016. Rounding out the top-three for the women was UMass Lowell with 114 points. Travis Robinson of UAlbany became the three-time shot put champion, doing it in bold fashion by breaking the conference record in the event with a throw of 60' 9½". Robinson earned himself Male Most Outstanding Field Performer award. Great Dane Shak Williams, earned himself Male Most Outstanding Track Performer with two wins in the 60m with a time of 6.67, just 0.03 seconds off of the conference record, and a win in the 200m clocking in at 21.35. Male Most Outstanding Rookie was claimed by Brian Luciano of Binghamton. His impressive performance in the weight throw with a distance of 67' 10" pocketed him the gold medal and first individual #AETF championship title. The Coaches’ Award honor for most points earned by one individual on the men’s side was given to Maine’s Luke Marsanskis. He claimed victory in the 3000m, while finishing second by 0.01 seconds in the 5K and grabbing fourth in the mile. Mackenzie Doyle was awarded the Female Most Outstanding Track Performer and the Coaches’ Award for most points accumulated, after wins in the Mile (4:44.46), 3,000m (9:22.05), and 5,000m (16:12.40). This is Doyle’s second straight year winning the Coaches’ Award honor. Alyssa Amritage from Binghamton earned herself the Female Most OUtstanding Field Performer award with a new pole vault record. The 2024 pole vault champion set a new conference record with a height of 13' 3½", smashing the record set in 2016 by almost a foot. The Female Most Outstanding Rookie was awarded to Amelia Benjamin of UAlbany. The Great Dane out jumped all of her opponents in the high jump with a jump of 5'10 3/4". Coaching Staff of the Year on the men’s side was awarded to UAlbany, while Binghamton’s coaching staff was awarded the honor on the women’s side. Junior, Joseph Mucci of NJIT earned himself the Elite-18 Award. Mucci is a junior, mathematical science and computer science major and has a 4.0. For the women, Binghamton’s Zoe Rose was awarded the Elite-18 award with a 3.98 in biochemistry. Day 2 Highlights Leann Nicohlas of UAlbany became the two-time women’s triple jump champion. Her distance of 41' 2¼" earned her the gold medal. Antoinette Galloway from UAlbany earned gold in the women’s 60m hurdles with a new conference record of 8.25. Antwone Messado, UAlbany became the repeat 60m hurdles champion winning the event in 8.07 for the third straight year. Great Dane, Dominique Clarke became the 3-time 60m champion with a time of 7.413.
