BOSTON – Reigning #AEMLAX champion Bryant kicks built off its season-opening win with a dominant 12-6 over #15/20 Boston University on Friday. The win propelled the Bulldogs into the USILA Top 20 at #18 this week.
Elsewhere, NJIT beat Mount St. Mary’s, 11-10, to improve to 3-0 for the first time in program history. Binghamton and Vermont picked up their first wins of the season as the Bearcats downed St. Bonaventure, 13-12, in overtime and Vermont beat Manhattan, 12-9.
Binghamton and UMass Lowell also kicked off their seasons while Vermont was in action as well.
Eleven more games take place this week, including a matchup of nationally-ranked teams on Tuesday when Bryant and Harvard square off.
The preseason poll was announced on January 16.

Offensive Player of the Week
Kevin Groeninger, Bryant – Grad, Attack, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.
- Scored four goals to lead Bryant to a dominant 12-6 win over #15/20 Boston University.
- This is Groeninger’s first #AEMLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
Defensive Player of the Week
Drew Lucas, Bryant – Jr., Defender, Peabody, Mass.
- Caused three turnovers and had two ground balls in Bryant’s dominant win over #15/20 Boston University.
- Led a defensive unit that held an offense averaging 16 goals over its first two games to just six.
- This is Lucas’ first #AEMLAX Defensive Player of the Week of the season.
Faceoff Specialist of the Week
Nathan Laliberte, Bryant – Sr., Faceoff Specialist, Auburn, N.H.
- Won 18-of-22 faceoffs (82 percent) in Bryant’s dominant win over #15/20 Boston University.
- Also picked up 12 ground balls.
- This is Laliberte’s first career #AEMLAX Faceoff Specialist of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Landon Whitney, UAlbany – Fr., Goalkeeper, Peachtree City, Ga.
- Recorded 13 saves and a .542 save percentage in collegiate debut vs. Colgate.
- This is Whitney’s first career #AEMLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
