BOSTON - All nine #AETF schools will once again travel to the prestigious TRACK at New Balance in Boston next week for the 2024 America East Indoor Track and Field Championships. The two-day event, beginning Monday, February 19th, will be streamed live on AmericaEast.tv and begins with the women’s weight throw at 10 a.m. Monday morning.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
- Last Year: UMass Lowell returns as defending champions in 2024 after a clean sweep in the 2023 Indoor Championships. The men took home the trophy with a total of 180.5 points, making it their second straight win and 3rd title overall. The women edged out the Great Danes last year in the tightest women’s championship meet in America East history. Coming down to the final event in the 4x400, the River Hawks were able to secure their first ever championship title with 196.50 points, just 0.5 points ahead of UAlbany.
- Regional Rankings: Fourteen out of the 18 men’s and women’s teams have broken into the top-25 in their respective regional rankings at some point this season. UAlbany men’s and women’s teams lead all schools in their regional rankings ranking as high as 5 for the women and 7 for the men in the Northeast region. The men currently rank at 7th in the Northeast, followed by Binghamton and UMBC both ranking at 17th in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region. The UAlbany women currently sit at 8th with UMass Lowell and UMBC behind them coming in at 15th and 16th respectively in their regions.
- Ones to Watch
- Caitlyn Bobb, UMBC - The 2022 200m and 400m champion returns to the track this season after missing the 2023 Championship with an injury. Bobb has had a strong return breaking UMBC’s 500m record and sitting at 2nd in the 200m, first in the 400m, and first in the 500m in the conference.
- Jenna Chan, Binghamton - The two-time 60m hurdle champion returns for her junior campaign looking to take her 3rd straight 60m hurdle title. Chan is currently ranked first on the #AETF leaderboard and sixth in the Northeast.
- Dominique Clarke, UAlbany - the reigning 60m champion returns to the track this season coming into the championship ranked first in the conference and the Northeast region. She also claimed the 200m crown last year.
- Kenzie Doyle, UMass Lowell - In the 2023 championships, Doyle won the 3000m and the 5000, as well as finishing in second place in the mile. Coming into this year’s championship, Kenzie is ranked first in the mile, 3000m, and 5000m. She also ranked 6th in the NCAA for the 5000m.
- Cheyenne Figueroa, Maine - Figueroa placed 4th in the weight throw at last year’s championship, the junior returns topping the #AETF leaderboard with a throw of 64’ 11.25”
- Louis Gordon, UAlbany - The 2023 long jump champion looks to defend his title. Gordon is first in the conference and 3rd in the Northeast. He also set the championship record in the long jump at last year's outdoor championship.
- Jordan Lindinger-Asomah, NJIT - The freshman has had a standout first year being a 3-time weekly award winner and sitting at second in teh #AETF standings for the triple-jump with a distance of 50’ 6”.
- Liam Meginniss, UMBC - Meginniss ranks 4th in 800m, 3rd in 1000m, and 6th in mile. Meginniss has had a standout indoor season breaking not one, but two UMBC school records in the mile and 1000m.
- Leann Nicholas, UAlbany - The 2023 indoor champion returns to the jumping pits for the triple jump with an impressive season so far. Nicholas is currently ranked 23rd in the NCAA for her distance of 42’ 11” in the triple jump.
- Shak Williams, UAlbany - The 2022 60m champion returns to the track currently sitting at the top of the #AETF leaderboard in the 60m with a time of 6.61. The two-time #AETF weekly award winner is tied for 15th in the NCAA with his 60m time.
