Final #AETF Awards Set the Stage for the 2024 #AETF Indoor Championships

BOSTON, MA - Eight out of nine schools competed this weekend in their final meets before heading to the TRACK at New Balance in Boston for the 2024 Indoor #AETF Championships. 
 
AE teams were put to the test this weekend competing against some of the most premier Division I programs. The men’s mile this weekend featured two broken school records in Liam Meginnis, UMBC and Aidan O’Hern, New Hampshire. Caitlyn Bobb broke the 500m school record for UMBC set in 2015. Teams have this weekend off in preparation for the championships next week. 
 
The 2024 #AETF Championships are just one week away. #AETF Championships will be held at the New Balance Facility in Boston, Mass on Feb. 19 & 20. Find out all the information at #AETF Championship Central.  
 
Here are the week 7 and final #AETF weekly awards: 
 
Female Track Performer of the Week 
Caitlyn Bobb, UMBC - Jr., Sprints, Joppa, MD
  • Finished second overall in the 500 at the Darius Dixon Invitational 
  • Bobb’s time of 1:12.23 set a UMBC school record in the 500 and is currently ranked 1st in the conference and sits her at 7th in the NCAA
 
Female Field Performer of the Week 
Steph Green, UAlbany 
  • Green took 2nd in the weight throw at the Millrose Games this weekend
  • Green threw a distance of 63’ 5” 
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Shak Williams, UAlbany - Jr., Sprints, St. Andrew, Jamaica
  • Williams took home gold in the 60m with a personal best of 6.61 at the Millrose Games
  • His time ties him at 15th in the NCAA and was just two one-hundredths off the program record of 6.59 set at last year
 
Male Field Performer of the Week 
Brian Luciano, Binghamton - R-Fr., Throws, Yorktown Heights, NY 
  • Luciano finished 3rd in the weight throw on Friday at the Millrose games, throwing a distance of  65’ 9.75”
  • Luciano then went on to compete at the Big Apple Invitational where he placed first in the weight throw with a toss of  63’ 2”. This marks Luciano’s 4th indoor win for the weight throw this year
