Women’s #AEHoops Feb. 10 Recap

BOSTON – Vermont and Maine cruised to impressive wins, while Bryant and NJIT made crucial plays late to secure last minute victories on Saturday.
 
Bryant 55, Binghamton 51 – Box Score
The Bearcats held a slight 27-21 lead at the half and pushed their lead to eight points through three quarters. However, the Bulldogs mounted a furious comeback in the final quarter and tied up the contest with four minutes left. Bryant stretched the lead as high as 55-45 with 22 seconds left to secure the win. Nia Scott post 13 points and 15 rebounds while Kemari Reynolds had nine points, eight rebounds and two assists. Jadyn Weltz had 15 points and five rebounds for Binghamton.
 
NJIT 68, UMass Lowell 56 – Box Score
NJIT jumped out to a 14-6 lead after one quarter and led 22-19 at the half. The Highlanders put up 46 points in the second half and secured their first conference victory with the 68-56 win. Alejandra Zuniga finished with 26 points while Trinity Williams had 12 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks. Sydney Watkins had eight points, six rebounds and two assists for UMass Lowell.
 
Vermont 69, UMBC 45 – Box Score
The Catamounts shot 57.1 percent in the opening quarter on the way to a 34-21 halftime lead. Vermont finished with a six-point advantage in the third quarter and extended it in the fourth for the 24-point victory. Four players scored in double figures, highlighted by Andjela Matic and Keira Hanson combining for 27 points and six threes off the bench. Carmen Yanez had 12 points for UMBC.
 
Maine 67, New Hampshire 48 – Box Score
It was close in the opening half as the Black Bears led just 27-18. It was another story in the final 20 minutes as Anne Simon continued her impressive scoring and extended the Maine advantage as the hosts finished with the 19-point victory. Simon finished with 33 points and six rebounds while Adrianna Smith added ten points and 17 rebounds. Lucia Melero led New Hampshire with 12 points and four rebounds.
