Women’s #AEHoops Week 7: UAlbany & Binghamton Each Go 1-1

BOSTON –  UAlbany and Binghamton each went 1-1 last week, while Maine got back on track with a record-breaking performance in the final contests before each team’s holiday break.
  
The Week That Was
  • UAlbany moved to 10-1 with a 15-point victory over Merrimack and then nearly took down Wisconsin on Friday. The Great Danes let 47-44 after three quarters, but the Badgers pulled away in the fourth for the victory.
  • Binghamton fell to Syracuse in its first game of the week, but rebounded with a 67-40 victory over Molloy to conclude the week. Bella Pucci impressed with 17 points and 13 rebounds in the win.
  • Maine hosted Division III Bates and connected on a school-record 19 threes in the 96-39 victory, led by Olivia Rockwood who was 6-for-7 from deep on the way to 20 points.
  • Vermont nearly took down unbeaten Buffalo on the road, but gave up a lead in the fourth on the way to losing 70-68. The Catamounts concluded the week with a 60-45 loss at five-time reigning Ivy League Champion Princeton.
 
 Looking Ahead
  • Just six games take place next weekend as teams are on a break until Saturday.
  • UAlbany faces the biggest test, going down to play #5 LSU at Batton Rogue on Dec. 29 on the SEC Network+.
  • Maine and Bryant each play twice at FDU over the weekend. The Bulldogs face Coppin State and then FDU while Maine starts with FDU and then Coppin State on Sunday.
  • UMBC hosts Bryn Athyn in the other action over the weekend.
  • Conference play begins next Thursday, Jan. 2. The league will have a complete preview of all the action next week.

 America East Links Fans will once again be able to watch every #AEHoops game this season regardless of where they live! The majority games will air on The AE on ESPN, either ESPN+ or ESPN3, in the United States. Games will also be available internationally on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.
 
2024-25 Weekly Award Winners (Dec. 23)
Player of the Week
Kaci Donovan, UAlbany
  • Averaged 17.0 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 52 percent in a 1-1 last week
  • Finished with 20 points, three rebounds and four threes in a 15-point win over Merrimack.
  • Had 14 points and two rebounds in 24 minutes as UAlbany led Wisconsin 47-44 after three quarters before ultimately falling by 10 points.
  • This is Donovan’s first #AEHoops Player of the Week honor this season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Delanie Hill, UAlbany – Fr., Guard, Charlotte, N.C.
  • Averaged 7.0 points, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week.
  • Totaled eight points, one assist and one steal in a 15-point win over Merrimack.
  • Played 31 minutes with six points, four assists and two steals in a ten-point loss to Wisconsin. 
  • This is Hill’s first #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor this season.
