#AETF Week 2: Maine, NJIT, Vermont Claim Weekly Awards

BOSTON –  Three #AETF teams closed out 2024 with a weekend of meets. The Black Bears hosted the University of Maine Multi Invite, NJIT was at the Wagner Shootout, and Vermont competed at the Dartmouth Heptathlon meet.

Following a few weeks off from competing, Bryant will be the first team to return to action when they host the Bryant Indoor Throw Competition on January 7th.

2024 #AETF Weekly Award Winners – Dec. 17

Male Field Athlete of the Week
Ben Therriault, Maine – Fr., Topsham, Maine
  • Placed first in his collegiate debut Heptathlon with a score of 4706 at the University of Maine Multi Invite.
  • Therriault's score of 4706 ranks 8th all-time in the University of Maine Indoor Track and Field record books.
  • This is Therrialt's first #AETF Field Athlete of the Week honor.

Male Track Athlete of the Week
Luke Marsanskis, Maine– Sr., Cumberland, Maine
  • Finished in first in the mile running 4:06.88 at the University of Maine Multi Invite
  • His time currently ranks first in the America East.
  • This is Marsanskis' first #AETF Athlete of the week honor.
 
Male Rookie of the Week
Pietro Carpentari, NJIT– Fr., Nogaredo, Italy
  • Ran a personal-best, 1:21.31, in the 600m to finish third at the Seahawk Shootout.
  • This is Carpentari's first #AETF Rookie of the Week honor

Female Field Athlete of the Week
Sonya Rybalko, Maine – Sr.,
  • Placed first in the Triple Jump with a mark of 11.90m ( 39’0.5”) and recorded a distance of 5.74m ( 18’10”).
  • Both jumps put her 4th all-time in Maine Indoor Track & Field record book.
  • This is Rybalko's first #AETF weekly honor.

Female Track Athlete  of the Week
MegAnne Gilmore, Vermont– Grad., Jeffersonville, VT
  • Won the 3000m, running 10:02.24, at the Dartmouth December Invite.
  • This is Gilmore's first #AETF Track Athlete of the Week honor.
Female Rookie of the Week
Zaidah Lightener, NJIT– Fr., Springfield, NE
  • Jumped a school-record 11.74m (38’6.2”) in the Triple Jump to finish third at the Seahawk Shootout.
  • Her mark currently ranks fourth in the America East and first among freshmen.
  • This is Lightener's first #AETF Track Athlete of the Week honor.
