BOSTON – UAlbany pulled off its first undefeated #AEFH regular season since 2014 to earn the top overall seed and hosting duties in the 2024 America East Field Hockey Championship. The Great Danes will host the six-team tournament beginning on Thursday as they earned their second straight regular season championship.
The championship begins with quarterfinal action on Thursday at 11 a.m.. The Semifinals begin Friday at 11 a.m., with the championship game taking place on Sunday at 12 p.m.
All five games of the 2024 #AEFH Championship will air on ESPN+ domestically and AmericaEast.TV internationally. The final seeds for the 2024 #AEFH Championship are:
- UAlbany (6-0) – First time hosting the #AEFH Championship since 2015
- New Hampshire (4-2) – Seeded second for the first time since 2014
- Maine (3-3) – Secured a top-three seed for the fifth time in the last six seasons
- Vermont (3-3) – Earned the No. 4 seed for the second time in the past three years
- UMass Lowell (3-3) – Making its third straight Championship appearance
- UC Davis (1-5) – Reached its first #AEFH Tournament since 2018
The Great Danes finished the regular season at 6-0, capped off by a 3-1 victory at home against Vermont this past Friday. New Hampshire, meanwhile, fell to Maine in the final game of the regular season but was 4-2 to secure the No. 2 seed. Both teams have a bye to Friday’s semifinals.
Maine, Vermont and UMass Lowell all finished at 3-3 in league play but the Black Bears earned the No. 3 seed and won the tiebreak due to their victory over New Hampshire earlier in the season. They face UC Davis on Thursday at 11 a.m. Vermont beat UMass Lowell head-to-head to secure the No. 4 seed while the River Hawks dropped to No. 5. The two teams will face off in quarterfinal action on Thursday at 2 p.m.
The winner of Maine-UC Davis will face New Hampshire on Friday at 11 a.m. while the winner of Vermont-UMass Lowell will battle UAlbany at 2 p.m. on Friday. The semifinal winners play for a spot in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at 12 p.m.
