Vermont Downs No. 7 Hofstra, Advances to Round of 16

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Catamounts advanced to the NCAA Third Round for the third consecutive year with a 2-1 victory over No. 7 Hofstra on Sunday evening.
 
Vermont grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute and after early second half goal from the Pride they answered quickly, holding on to improve to 13-2-5. The Catamounts are one just three programs that have reached the Round of 16 each of the past three seasons.
 
UVM will travel to play at San Diego next Sunday night, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. (ET) determined by the NCAA. View the complete NCAA Bracket.
   
Yaniv Bazini gave UVM a 1-0 lead just 7:23 into the contest as Mike Bleeker sent a ball over the top to the senior and he finished it in the back of the net.
 
Hofstra tied it up at 51:12, however David Ismail answered just 51 seconds later. He one-touched a pass from Zach Barrett on the near side of the six and ripped a shot in the far corner of the next.
 
In the final ten minutes, the Pride thought they had the equalizer, following a corner kick, but the goal was disallowed due to offsides.
 
The Catamount defense held strong to secure it seventh NCAA victory over the past three seasons.
