Men's #AE#Hoops Week 1: 2-0 Start Leads to Weekly Award Sweep for UMass Lowell

BOSTON – The 2024-25 #AEHoops season got underway last week with eight of the league’s nine programs earning wins.
 
Need to Know
  • UMass Lowell is the lone 2-0 team after it beat Rivier on Monday and St. Peter’s on Friday.
  • Vermont posted a 67-62 win at UAB on Monday. The Blazers are the AAC preseason favorite after earning a #12 seed in the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
  • The Catamounts were ranked #6 in the CollegeInsider.com preseason Mid-Major poll.
  • Maine won at Brown on Sunday behind 18 points from Jaden Clayton.
  • Eighteen more games take place this week.
  • The men’s preseason poll and All-Conference team was announced on Oct. 21

Fans will once again be able to watch every #AEHoops game this season regardless of where they live! The majority games will air on The AE on ESPN, either ESPN+, in the United States. Games will also be available internationally on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.


 
2024-25 Weekly Award Winners (Nov. 11)
Player of the Week
Quinton Mincey, UMass Lowell – Sr., Forward, Upper Marlboro, Md.
  • Averaged 23.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the River Hawks.
  • Tied his career high by scoring 27 points in a win over St. Peter’s on Friday.
  • Had 20 points and seven board vs. Rivier on Monday.
  • This is Mincey’s first career #AEHoops Player of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Martin Somerville, UMass Lowell – Fr., Guard, Bowie, Md.
  • Averaged 11.0 points, 2.5 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in two games last week.
  • Had 17 points and shot 5-of-7 from three-point land on Monday.
  • This is Martin’s first #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor this year.
