BOSTON – Following the first two play dates, just four points separate first and last place in the #AEMSOC Standings. Six different teams have at least one victory and no team has more than four points.
Need to Know:
- After two weeks, UMBC, UMass Lowell, Vermont and New Hampshire are tied atop the #AEMSOC standings with four points at 1-0-1. Bryant and NJIT are just one point behind with three.
- UNH tied 1-1 with Northeastern early in the week before taking down Bryant 2-1 in a rematch of last year’s #AEMSOC Championship, thanks to a Matthew Goncalves header in the second half.
- Vermont earned a 2-2 draw with UMass on Tuesday, which was ranked 10th nationally in RPI, and followed it up with a 4-1 win over UAlbany on Saturday.
- NJIT also went 1-0-1 last week, drawing with Delaware and beating Binghamton 2-1.
- This Tuesday, Vermont highlights four non-conference matches by hosting unbeaten UConn (7-0-3). UMBC, meanwhile, welcomes perennial title contender Georgetown for a 7 p.m. matchup. Elsewhere, UNH faces Dartmouth while Binghamton welcomes Bucknell.
- On Saturday, UMass Lowell looks to stay unbeaten at home against Bryant, while UNH hosts Binghamton. UMBC welcomes UAlbany for a 7 p.m. matchup.
- Sunday afternoon NJIT plays at Vermont, having won two straight against the Catamounts.

Offensive Player of the Week
Maximilian Kissel, Vermont – Jr., Forward, Wiesbaden, Germany
- Scored twice in a 4-1 conference victory over UAlbany.
- Took four shots and helped UVM earn a draw with UMass, currently ranked 23rd in RPI.
- This is Kissel’s second career #AEMSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
JR Gawel, UMass Lowell – Jr., Goalkeeper, Leonardtown, Md.
- Went 0-0-1 last week, giving up one goal and making six saves.
- Made all six of his saves at UMBC in the second half with UML down one player.
- This is Gawel’s third #AEMSOC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Eric Sadlocha, NJIT – Fr., Defender, Sayreville, N.J.
- Tallied one goal in a 1-0-1 week for NJIT.
- Scored the first goal in a 2-1 victory over Binghamton while playing the full 90 minutes.
- This is Sadlocha’s second #AEMSOC Rookie of the Week honor.

The America East is one of the best men’s soccer conferences in the country. In 2023 the league finished sixth in RPI among all conferences and three teams were selected to the NCAA Tournament. Overall The conference has received multiple bids to the NCAA tournament in four of the past eight seasons, with Vermont and New Hampshire reaching each of the past three years. Four different teams have reached the third round of the NCAA tournament since 2014, highlighted by UMBC getting all the way to the College Cup in 2014.
