#AEXC Week 8: Binghamton, UMBC, & UMass Lowell Receive Weekly Honors

BOSTON – Seven squads battled on the trails this weekend in preparation for the America East Championship on Saturday, November 2.  

NJIT and UMBC took part in the ECAC Championships and UMass Lowell participated in the Pre-National Invitational hosted by Wisconsin. 

Meanwhile, Vermont welcomed UAlbany, Bryant, and Binghamton in the Fall Foliage Invitational on Sunday. 

Next weekend, New Hampshire and UMass Lowell will compete in the Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) Mini-Meet in New Britain, CT.  

2024 #AEXC Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 21 
Female Performer of the Week 
Mary-Kate Finn, UMass Lowell – Jr., Nashua, N.H.  

  • Finn took tenth place in the Pre-National Invitational 6k with a time of 20:49.0. 
  • The junior raced at a pace of 5:35, while this is Finn’s third weekly award this season (9/24/24 & 10/7/24). 

Female Rookie of the Week 
Anna Gansrow, Binghamton – Fr., Centre Moriches, N.Y. 

  • Placed sixth out of 112 runners in the Fall Foliage Invitational at a time of 18:18.8.
  • Helped the Bearcats to a team title in the women’s 5k race. 

Male Performer of the Week   
Jan Wouter Van Den Akker, UMass Lowell – Sr., Groningen, Netherlands 

  • The senior competed in the Pre-National Invitational 8k at a time of 24:22.3.
  • Wouter Van Den Akker placed 17th and raced at a pace of 4:54.2.

Male Rookie of the Week 
Daniel Danilovitz, UMBC - Fr., Moosic, Pa. 

  • Took 12th place with a time of 24:51.5 in the IC4A 8k Championship on Friday afternoon. 
  • This is Danilovitz’s fourth Rookie of the Week honor of the fall (9/3/24, 9/17/24, 10/7/24).
