#AEMSOC Week 9: Catamounts Remain Unbeaten

BOSTON – In a battle between the top two teams in the league, it was Vermont who came out on top, edging Bryant 1-0 and moving one step closer to an #AEMSOC Tournament berth with three games remaining in the regular season.
 
The Catamounts extended their overall win streak to four games with the victory, improving to 3-0-1 with ten points in league play. They lead New Hampshire by three points, as the Wildcats are 2-1-1 in league play. Three teams are tied behind them with six points with three weeks remaining.
 
Need to Know:
  • Vermont got a goal from Pieter Bultman in the 30th minute for a 1-0 victory over Bryant.
  • UNH went 2-0 last week, taking down Yale 1-0 at home and then edging UMBC 2-1 on Saturday night.
  • Binghamton secured its second straight win, shutting out UMass Lowell 1-0 behind a strong defensive effort.
  • NJIT earned its second conference victory of the season with a 2-1 victory over UAlbany.
  • This Tuesday, UAlbany hosts Colgate and NJIT welcomes Drexel in non-conference action.
  • Saturday features three league matchups, beginning with NJIT (6 pts) at UMass Lowell (4 pts) and followed by UNH (7 pts) at UAlbany (3 pts). Vermont (10 pts) travels down to UMBC (4 pts) for a 7 p.m. contest.
  • NJIT and UAlbany battle in the first game of the day while New Hampshire hosts UMBC looking to snap a two-game winless streak.

  • Registered two goals in a 2-0 week for UNH.
  • Tallied the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Yale.
  • Scored the opening goal in a 2-1 win versus UMBC>
  • This is Conde’s second career #AEMSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Dylan McDermott, Binghamton – Gr., Goalkeeper, Monroe, N.Y.
  • Post a shutout victory in his lone start of the week.
  • Made six saves against UMass Lowell for his second straight conference shutout
  • This is McDermott’s first #AEMSOC Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Pieter Bultman, Vermont – R-Fr., Defender, Lexington, Mass.
  • Scored first career goal in 1-0 victory over Bryant to secure the win.
  • This is Bultman’s first #AEMSOC Rookie of the Week honor.

The America East is one of the best men’s soccer conferences in the country. In 2023 the league finished sixth in RPI among all conferences and three teams were selected to the NCAA Tournament. Overall The conference has received multiple bids to the NCAA tournament in four of the past eight seasons, with Vermont and New Hampshire reaching each of the past three years. Four different teams have reached the third round of the NCAA tournament since 2014, highlighted by UMBC getting all the way to the College Cup in 2014.

Fans will once again be able to watch nearly every #AEMSOC contest this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV.
