BOSTON – Bryant and NJIT posted impressive results this past weekend and each school took home a pair of #AESD Weekly Awards.
NJIT hosted the NJIT Invitational, taking first in the event with a score of 1,289.5 to edge out Howard (1,080.5). On the women’s side, Vermont claimed victory with its total of 1,480.5, more than 400 points ahead of second place Howard.
Bryant hosted Fairfield in its season-opening competition, while UMBC squared off against Navy and William & Mary in a tri-meet.
This weekend Bryant travels to Binghamton for a conference matchup, while New Hampshire and Vermont also battle in Durham on Friday. The Catamounts then travel to Merrimack on Saturday. Maine hosts Maine Maritime on Friday evening.

Female Swimmer of the Week
Bruna de Padua, UMBC – Jr., Curitiba, Brazil
- Took first in the 500 free with a league-best 5:02.58.
- Placed second in the 200 free (1:52.98), which is the best time in the America East.
- This is de Padua’s second career #AESD Swimmer of the Week honor.
Female Diver of the Week
Megan Beasley, Bryant – So., Harrogate, England
- Won both 1-meter and 3-meter diving events in her season-opening meet.
- Finished with a 260.03 in the 1-meter and 263.18 in the 3-meter, both of which are the best scores in the America East this year.
- This is Beasley’s second #AESD Diving of the Week honor.
Female Rookie of the Week
Ruby Tonelli, Bryant – Fr., Sydney, Australia
- In first collegiate meet, won the 100 fly in 57.71, the second-best time in the America East.
- Took second in the 200 fly to her teammate in 2:06.16, the third best time in the league.
- This is Tonelli’s first #AESD Rookie of the Week honor.
Male Swimmer & Rookie of the Week
Ilias El Fallaki, NJIT – Fr., Sevilla, Spain
- Broke a pair of school records in his collegiate debut for NJIT, in the 1000 free (9:32.82) and the 1,650 free (15:44.05). He also swam in a pair of relays and the 200 fly.
- His 1,650 free is the fourth fastest in the nation this season and both his 1000 free and 1,650 are the fastest in the America East.
- This is El Fallaki’s first career #AESD Swimmer and Rookie of the Week honor.
Male Diver of the Week
Isaac Poole, UMBC – Gr., Shoreline, Wash.
- Won both 1-meter and 3-meter diving events against Navy.
- Finished with a 317.48 in the 3-meter and 295.65 in the 1-meter event.
- This is Poole’s second #AESD Diving of the Week honor.
