BOSTON – Conference play got underway last week and three teams started with a pair of victories while two more went 1-1. UAlbany, Maine and UMBC all currently sit at the top of the standings with 2-0 marks.
The Week That Was
- The Great Danes stretched their win streak to nine games and a 13-2 record overall with two conference victories last week. They took down Bryant 69-50 and then blew out NJIT 77-36 on Saturday.
- UMBC improved to 2-0 in league action with a last-second 64-63 victory over Bryant on Saturday afternoon as Laura Lacambra hit a layup with just seconds left. The Retrievers opened conference play with a 70-55 win over Binghamton.
- Maine snapped Vermont’s 18-game winning streak against #AEHoops foes, 60-48, on Saturday after beating UMass Lowell 55-43 on the road Thursday.
- The River Hawks rebounded from Thursday’s defeat to take down New Hampshire 70-53, for their first win while UVM beat the Wildcats 67-58 on Thursday.
Looking Ahead
- Three of Thursday’s four matchups are 11 a.m. contests this week, with UMBC hosting Vermont, Binghamton welcoming Bryant and UMass Lowell at NJIT.
- Maine travels to New Hampshire for a 6:03 tip-off in the final contest of the day.
- On Saturday at 1 p.m., UMBC will host UMass Lowell, while Vermont travels to NJIT.
- Bryant welcomes New Hampshire at 2 p.m., while UAlbany and Binghamton battle for New York supremacy at 2 p.m.

Player of the Week
Anne Simon, Maine – Gr., Guard, Sandweiler, Luxembourg
- Averaged 16.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.0 assists in a pair of wins.
- Recorded 20 points, ten rebounds six steals and four assists to take down preseason favorite Vermont by 12 points.
- Had 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists in a win over UMass Lowell to start conference play.
- This is Simon’s fifth #AEHoops Player of the Week honor this year.
Rookie of the Week
Mia Mancini, Bryant – Fr., Guard, Mansfield, Mass.
- Averaged 18.0 points, 2.0 assist and 2.5 3pt FG per game in a pair of losses.
- Finished with 17 points, two rebounds and two assists in a loss to UAlbany.
- Totaled 19 points, four threes, four rebounds and two assists in a tough one-point loss to UMBC.
- This is Mancini’s fifth #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
